Which Carpet Fiber Is Best For You?

Nylon Carpet

Nylon carpet fiber is soft yet durable, shows color brilliantly, and is easy to clean. It is very resilient, fade-resistant, and retains its’ look and texture well. Nylon 6 or Nylon 6/6 are a bit more expensive but are designed to be more durable and wear resistant. Nylon carpets are an excellent choice for most anywhere in the home, especially places high traffic areas.

Polypropylene Carpet (Olefin)

The use and style of polypropylene in carpet has grown dramatically over the past ten years. It is incredibly moisture resistant and offers resistance to stains, and fading. Polypropylene based carpet, a value-oriented fiber, is notably colorfast because it is solution-dyed, which means the color is added during the fiber creation and not dyed later. Polypropylene carpet is a right choice for both outdoor and indoor areas including family rooms, playrooms, kitchens, and sun-rooms.

Polyester Carpet (P.E.T)

Made from recycled P.E.T. products, like most plastic soda bottles and such, it is much stronger than polypropylene and can perform as well as nylon at a slightly lower cost. Polyester carpet offers exceptional softness, making it ideal for thick, cut pile styles. Polyester is also naturally stain & fade resistant. This carpet has excellent color clarity, color retention, strength, and abrasion resistance. Most carpets made from polyester are easily cleaned, and they resist water-soluble stains. As a recycled product, can be an inexpensive choice, somewhat environmentally friendly option for your Eastern Shore home.
